The adventures of Lewis, Clark and Sacagawea

This weekend was absolutely amazing. One thing about my daughter is that she loves to pretend. When she was little she always pretended to be Simba in the Lion King or Tarzan. When we got up Saturday, she said Mom we need to go for a walk in the woods today. We can be Lewis and Clark. I agreed to go along. She just recently studied about the explorers in her Social Studies class.
So around 12:40 Saturday afternoon we set out to explore the woods and creek that run through our property. I asked her who she was...Lewis or Clark. She said she wanted to be Meriwether. (Which is Lewis' first name). My husband was Captain Clark and I was to be Sacagawea. Here is a link to the real characters...in case you don't know the story. http://www.pbs.org/lewisandclark/inside/saca.html
So off we went into the woods. Only Sacagawea (that's me) wasn't in the lead. I was bringing up the rear...I said, "Aren't I supposed to be the guide." Lewis and Clark (Grace and Alex) said they would let me know when they need my help! Well fine by me.

Two seconds after I took this picture, I got my boot stuck in the mud. I was able to get it unstuck without assistance from the Explorers. But, I did get behind.

I did mention that I got a little behind. We soon approached the Limestone Creek. Lewis and Clark (Grace and Alex) got there first and was examining some beaver tracks. I decided to take a picture. I stepped to the left of them. Now I did look where I was stepping; however, I got the shock of my life. Instead of stepping on what I thought was just another old limb from a tree, IT WAS A SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I scream like Michael Myers had gotten me and took off running the other direction. Of course, my husband is used to my screaming...I scream at bugs, spiders, mice, etc. So he turned around very annoyed and looked down and saw the snake...in which he jumped. Of course, I scared the snake so bad that all it did was try to go the other way which ended up being the creek. The picture above is what I took when I was screaming. Turned out pretty good in spite of all the drama. And, NO I DIDN'T GET A PICTURE OF THE SNAKE!

At that point, my husband volunteered to walk me back home. It hurt my feelings. Grace decided that I couldn't be Sacagawea because she would have killed the snake. I told them that I was going to finish the exploration. So we set off again...after my heart recovered from such an upset. The rest of the trip was uneventful. We saw beaver poop, squirrels, lots of deer track, and turkey poop. Check out the rest of the pictures.

Above is a picture of a scaly bark tree. (It is in the middle of the pic.)

Do you know what the above picture is of?

This is a picture of a deer rub.

The above picture is a stick that beavers have chewed.

Click to enlarge and you can see the teeth marks.

Hope you enjoy! Tell me about your weekend.

ARMT Math Test Day 2

Hey Teenagers,
How was your morning? Did you feel confident about the ARMT Math? I sure hope so!

So did any of you watch Dancing with the Stars last night? I didn't. Last night we had a family supper to celebrate my Uncle's 61st birthday. So I missed the show.

Brian F., I know that you are voting for Shawn Johnson. She's pretty good. Who was the guy that got all 10's?

Looking forward to your responses. Don't forget to vote on the left side of the blog for one of the four reality shows. Click on one of them.

Here is some news out of the Columbus Zoo. An Asian boy elephant was born. Click below to read story and see video (not of the birth!).
